In Odisha , the Gender budgeting concept emerged during 2004-05 by introducing women component plan. However due to methodological difficulty and administrative inaction the process could not geared-up. OBAC started work on gender responsive budgeting during 2013 and has been continuously engaging with government to institutionalize the process in the state. The engagement includes analysis of gender budget, expert consultation, research and capacity building etc,.
The centre maintains a huge repository of information on public finance and public policy of the state. These data base are largely used by Researcher scholars, academia, CSOs for higher research on public finance. The centers own two unique software to analyses the state budget data (Both revenue and expenditure). The center maintains a data base which has captured the public finance data since 1936, inception of odisha as a separate state.
